Summer Party Dish

It’s getting closer to Fall season and I’m sure you’re all out there trying to squeeze in as much BBQ and/or backyard parties as possible! Those of you who have the vegetarians or foodies in mind, and would also like to add a little more flare to your carte du jour, you can try this Warm Goat Cheese Basil and Roasted Pepper Tart recipe I found on the Canadian Living website.

I know goat cheese isn’t for everyone, but it’s low in fat and calories in comparison to other cheeses. If you’re looking to eliminate your cheese intake due to its high fat content, goat cheese would be a great substitution! Knowing that it can become daunting to plan out several different meals for a party, it’s important to make sure that each dish you choose to make is easy to prepare and doesn’t take up too much of your time. What I really liked about this particular dish is that you can make the cheese balls the night before, cutting your time in half on the day of the party. However, if you are willing to put in a little more time to make this dish even healthier, you can substitute the store-bought tarts with homemade whole wheat tarts. If you’re unfamiliar with what’s required in making a pie crust (like me), click here for a recipe that requires only 3 ingredients.

If your tarts turn out successful (i.e. you don’t burn them in the oven or accidentally buy sweet tart shells instead of the savoury ones), your guests will definitely leave happy and satisfied! Enjoy!
