For those of you who aren’t yet ready for Fall clothing, and still want to take in as much sunny weather possible, a great piece to have in your closet is a nice denim jacket.
I know how difficult it can be when you actually own one, but don’t know what to pair it with, or you truly believe it can only go with one outfit. I’m hoping that after reading today’s post, you’ll see that this staple item that will never go out of style is perfect for layering with pieces you already have in the closet!
Below is an example of a faded denim jacket that’s available at American Eagle.
Denim jackets can easily be dressed up or dressed down. Layering options include going casual with a fitted hoodie underneath; rocker style with your favourite rock band T-shirt over top a pair of rugged short boots; or even go dressy with a bright collared dress shirt that hits below the bum atop a pair of black tights and ankle boots! The options are endless.
Sometimes women may feel that denim jackets just add on extra pounds but it’s really all in how you wear it! It’s ideal to choose one that is a little more fitted and adds shape when worn, rather than the boxy kind. Also, make sure that you pair it with slim pants so that you’re showing off your curves, while looking hot as ever!
Guys can look equally as stylish in denim jackets. AllSaints has a fitted style in a dark wash, making it perfect to pair it with anything from khakis to dress pants. However, if you’re looking for something hip and just a tad bit different, I found this jacket on the ASOS website to give you more of a statement look.
Men’s options include rolling up the sleeves and pairing it with a pair of slim fit pants with loafers; a nice dress shirt and tie with casual pants and shoes, giving it a good balance of dressy and casual; and going a bit cozy with a fair isle sweater underneath with a pair of slim fit jeans and derby boots.
What’s great about the denim world today is that you can find a wide variety of denim jackets in different washes and fits that will go perfectly with your own unique style. If you have a few country-inspired pieces like checkered shirts or cowboy boots you can go with a jacket that emphasizes that look. If you’re into more of a rocker style, you can get a jacket with a more rugged, baggy fit in a mixed wash.
There’s really no right or wrong when it comes to denim jackets, so have fun with it – most importantly, make sure it makes you feel good!xo
